Inhale through your mouth. Exhale through your mouth. Continuous. That's the technique.

Inhale deeply through your mouth — fill your belly first, then your chest. Take in as much air as you possibly can.

Exhale through your mouth — let it all go. Don't hold at the top. Just release.

Keep it continuous — no pausing between breaths. As soon as you finish exhaling, inhale again.

Breathe from your diaphragm — deep belly breathing. Your stomach should rise and fall, not just your chest.
This is the most specifically therapeutic of the five journeys. Where The Reset works on your current stress baseline and The Awakening works on expansion, Trauma Release is designed for what's stored — the older material. The thing your body has been holding because it never felt safe enough to release it.
This session is not for re-experiencing trauma. It is for completing the body's unfinished stress response — the one that got frozen at the moment of overwhelm and has been held in the body ever since.
A 78-minute guided somatic breathwork journey with a specific trauma-informed structure. Shona uses a gently titrated approach — moving towards the held sensation in the body, then back to resource, then deeper — rather than plunging you into material without support. The pacing is intentional. The container is strong.
Important: This session is held in a specifically trauma-informed container. If you have a diagnosed PTSD or are in active crisis, please reach out before booking — Shona may recommend the 1:1 session as a safer first step.
This session is gentler in pacing than The Awakening — not because it goes less deep, but because the depth is held more carefully. You may experience shaking, trembling, or physical release in the body — this is the body's natural discharge mechanism (TRE — Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises is based on this same mechanism). You may also experience profound stillness. Both are release. Allow what comes.
After the session: This one asks for more rest. Clear your schedule for at least 2–3 hours afterwards if possible. Integration is part of the healing.
